Who IS in Phase 1a?

  • Primary care: (family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics)
  • Occupational health
  • Urgent care
  • Any health worker performing COVID-19 testing or COVID-19 vaccinations University health center
  • School nurses: K-12 school health
  • Dental
  • Pharmacy
  • Program for all Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) workers
  • Home health, Private Care / Personal Care
  • Hospice
  • Dialysis
  • Blood donation center workers
  • EMS patient transport / first responders: paramedics, EMTs, fire and police – (many have already been vaccinated by ADH, a hospital or by a pharmacy)
  • Health professions students working in priority groups above
  • Hospital workers (Most have already been vaccinated by their hospital)
  • Long-term care consultant pharmacists
  • Long-term care staff (Most have or will be vaccinated in the long-term care facility, skilled nursing/assisted living/residential care/other licensed facilities)
  • Long-term care survey and certification staff 
  • Specialist physician/APRN clinics (cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, nephrology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, pain management, pulmonology, radiology, urology, and other specialties not already vaccinated)
  • Advance practice nurses (APRNs) (if not already vaccinated in the priority group above)
  • Athletic trainers
  • Behavioral health
  • Chiropractors
  • Health professions students (if not already vaccinated in the priority group above)
  • Lab technicians (if not already vaccinated in the priority group above)
  • Medical assistants (if not already vaccinated in the priority group above)
  • Mortuary service providers, coroners, and medical examiners
  • Nurses (if not already vaccinated in the priority group above)
  • Occupational therapy
  • Optometry
  • Organ transplant / procurement centers
  • Physical therapy
  • Physician assistants (if not already vaccinated in the priority group above)
  • Podiatry
  • Respiratory therapy
  • Social workers (if not already vaccinated in the priority group above)
  • Speech therapy
  • Xray / imaging
  • Workers needed to transport patients to health care facilities and provider appointments
  • Any other health workers and support staff in health worksites such as clerks, receptionists, and janitors at risk of COVID-19 infection

Who is not in 1a?

  • Veterinarians and their team members are not part of 1a
  • Patients 75 and over are not part of 1a, unless they are a health worker or LTC resident as defined in 1a
  • Patients 65 and over are not part of 1a, unless they are a health worker or LTC resident as defined in 1a
  • Patients living in independent living facilities, senior care centers or retirement communities that are infacilities that are not licensed as a long-term care facility, assisted living facility or a residential care facilitywith the state of Arkansas are not part of 1a
  • Spouses, children, parents, or other relatives of eligible patients in 1a are not part of 1a unless they are healthworkers as defined in 1a
  • Friends of eligible 1a patients are not part of 1a, unless they are health workers as defined in 1a
  • Public school employees are not part of 1a unless they are health workers as defined in 1a
  • Governmental workers and politicians are not part of 1a unless they are health workers as defined in 1a
  • Patients with chronic medical conditions are not part of 1a unless they are health workers or LTC resident as defined in 1a

Who IS in Phase 1b?

The initial 1b groups eligible to receive vaccinations will be:

  • People 70+ years old
  • Teachers and school staff
  • Child care and higher education workers
